It’s a small butterfly on a rugged baby guava.
It’s closed wings are compact and looks like
a 3D eye blended on it—a delicate art of nature.
It’s surrounded by some minute plants with the tiniest of green leaves I have ever seen,
growing on a worn-out red brick. Two other fallen leaves seem to have
absorbed a tint of crimson from the brick and thus adds an auburn charm.
Nevertheless all this simple beauty around, the baby guava feels bitten by a butterfly!
Joining with this week’s Macro Monday and Dailypost Photo challenge ‘Indulge’.
was baffled by the “eye” at first!

That’s an interesting wing on that butterfly. I suppose the eye is to ward predators off

That must be right, Mike. I have not given much thought to it earlier, but yes, it certainly is a food for thought—But I think you said the right reason!
Thank you.

Great shot! The eye patterns of certain butterflys are evoloution in motion, they are to make the butterfly seem to be a larger insect and less apealing to predators..:-)

Yes Ed, you have a clearer and practical reason for the ‘eye’ of the wing. Marvelous idea of the nature!
