The Holy Book of Muslims – the Quran – is believed as a revelation from God (Allah سبحانه و تعالى), and thus this sacred text is highly revered
across Muslim communities all over the world.
It is widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language. The language of the Quran has been described as ‘rhymed prose’
as it shares both poetry and prose – it is more poetic in some parts and more prose-like in others.
Quran was verbally revealed from Allah سبحانه و تعالى in the year AD 609 to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ – the Messenger of Allah سبحانه و تعالى –
at the age of 40, through the Angel Jibril عليه السلام (Gabriel), gradually over a period of approximately 23 years, to the year of his death.
Shortly after the Prophet’s death, the Quran was collected by his companions using written Quranic materials and everything that had been
memorized of the Quran. Later, as years progressed, many copies of the same text were made and popularized around the globe.
It is the completion of a series of divine messages that started with the messages revealed to the first man of the mankind – Prophet Adam, and
ended with the last Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Quran has familiarity with major narratives recounted in the Jewish and Christian Holy Books
(Torah & Bible).
Holy Quran was revealed in the Holy month of Ramadan, the Islamic month during which Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset. Reciting the Quran
is regarded as a holy and rewarding act, which can be seen more than any other month. When the spirit is right, Muslims spend time reciting the Quran
with reverent love, ardent devotion, and zeal. In this month Muslims greet each other saying Ramadan Kareem, which literally means ‘generous Ramadan’.
The Quran is a miracle from Allah سبحانه و تعالى that it is protected by Allah سبحانه و تعالى from distortion or corruption until the end of the world.
Not one word of its 114 surahs (chapters) has been changed over the centuries since 7th century. The Quran is in every detail the same unique text
that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over fourteen centuries ago.
This is not all. What I’m noted here is only a very small peek. In fact it is said that if someone want to write about the whole of Quran,
he wouldn’t finish it even if he uses all the trees on Earth as his pens and all the drops of oceans as ink!
This post is dedicated to the Desert Wings Challenge #7 “Ramadan Kareem”, which is actually a late-post from me. Any ways, I had decided to post
and not to miss my dear team’s challenges, I tried this. And for this challenge, I thought there is no other better subject than the Quran.
